Center for Cooperative Media welcomes new staff members
Please join us in welcoming Yuliana Delgado, Hanna Siemaszko, and Denise Shannon to the team
It’s an exciting time at the Center for Cooperative Media as we welcome new talents and celebrate the growth of our team!
Allow me to introduce our newest part-time and full-time staff members and acknowledge a familiar face taking on a new full-time role.
Hanna Siemaszko joins us as a full-time research coordinator. She brings knowledge and experience from her time as a research assistant at the Center working on a paper about cross-field collaborative journalism.
Hanna’s academic background is impressive, with a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science. Her dissertation, an analysis of discourse surrounding analytics and impact in the trade press, was published in LSE’s dissertation series.
Earlier in her career, Hanna cut her teeth at Solutions Journalism Network, where she played a pivotal role in rebuilding the organization’s impact tracker.
I’ve observed Hanna’s work and supported a few of her projects with the Center over the last few years. She is thorough, dedicated, and always kind — and her work reflects that. We’re incredibly lucky to have someone like Hanna on our team, and I’m excited to support her and her work going forward.
Yuliana Delgado is the new assistant coordinator for our NJ News Commons Spanish Translation News Service.
Yuli’s extensive 20-year career in the media industry, covering both print and digital realms, is a testament to her adaptability and mastery of content creation.
Her academic foundation from Barnard College, coupled with her pioneering work at Latina Magazine and MamásLatinas, sets a high standard for excellence. Yuli’s contributions to enhancing the Spanish-language content for New Jersey’s local news organizations have already helped to ensure that our translation services will thrive for the foreseeable future.
Personally, I have already come to value Yuli and her contributions to the Center’s work. She’s been with the team since late fall 2023, and it was clear from day one that she is an incredibly skilled, reliable, and effective coordinator — and she’s simply a joy to be around.
With Yuli’s help, we’re going to do great things for the New Jersey local news ecosystem, particularly for our state’s Spanish-language journalists and newsrooms.
Last but certainly not least, we are delighted to announce Denise Shannon is moving from a part-time to a full-time role as the Center’s administrator.
Denise has been an integral part of the Center since 2018 and was in charge of spearheading the Peer Learning and Collaboration Fund and our DEI travel grant program.
Denise is also the mastermind behind the planning and coordination of our most popular and longstanding events, including the Collaborative Journalism Summit and our inaugural NJ Ethnic + Community Media Expo.
Denise and I go way back, and the Center would be absolutely lost without her. Her administrative prowess and logistical brilliance are unmatched. Frankly, our events would be garbage without her. She is the bedrock of the Center, and a fountain of endless kindness, dedication, warmth, and insight. I would follow Denise into battle at the drop of a hat.
As we move forward, I’m confident that Hanna, Yuli, and Denise will bring fresh perspectives, good vibes, excellent work, and will contribute significantly to the Center and its mission. Their diverse skillsets and experiences are crucial for advancing our initiatives and reinforcing our commitment to supporting the NJ news ecosystem.
I’m so stoked to work alongside each of them and eager to see the ways they will enrich our work and the future of local journalism in New Jersey.
So please join me in giving a warm welcome to Hanna, Yuli, and Denise!
