About the Center for Cooperative Media
The Center for Cooperative Media is a grant-funded program at the College of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. We are dedicated to growing and strengthening the local journalism ecosystem in New Jersey and beyond. We believe that by working together, we can do better work than we can alone.
What we do
Collaborative journalism
We coordinate statewide, regional, and national collaborative reporting projects, connecting news partners to cover critical issues. We also host the annual Collaborative Journalism Summit.
The NJ News Commons
Our flagship project is a network of more than 300 local news providers that share content, collaborate on projects, and support one another.
Training and development
We offer innovative professional development and training on data journalism, video production, digital sales, and sustainable business planning.
Research and resources
We publish research on emerging ideas and best practices, focusing on local journalism, business models, and ecosystem mapping.
Fostering a more informed New Jersey
Our work is made possible by the support of our partners and funders. To learn more about our mission, research, and the impact of our collaborative work, visit our official website.
